Consagración del Vino

De arraigada devoción, el pueblo de Maipú mantiene con amor su rico patrimonio religioso. Parroquias, templos, conventos y seminarios conservan en su aire la misma estirpe de los primeros evangelizadores, que tanta implicancia tuvieron en la vida social y cultural del Departamento, aún antes de su fundación. Construcciones centenarias de asombrosos estilos arquitectónicos pintan de mística una vida urbana entregada a la veneración religiosa y adornan de manera sublime las zonas alejadas. Capilla de Barrancas, Santuario María Auxiliadora, o la Iglesia de Lunlunta representan verdaderos elementos del paisaje, escenarios legendarios de convivencia y retiros espirituales. Maipú reconoce como Patrona Departamental a la Virgen de la Merced, cuya conmemoración se celebra el 24 de setiembre, día en que culmina toda una semana de actos y festividades en su honor. A ella se consagra la siembra y se ofrenda la cosecha, pilares centrales de la economía y el trabajo maipucino.

With a fixed devotion, the town of Maipu maintains with love its rich religious patrimony. Parishes, temples, convents and seminaries conserve in their air the same lineage of the first evangelists who have so much implication in the social and cultural life of the Department, even before its foundation. Centenary constructions of amazing architectural styles paint of mystic an urban life given to the religious veneration and ornament in a sublime way the distant zones. Barrancas Chapel, Maria Auxiliadora Sanctuary or Lulunta Church represent truly elements of the landscape, legendary sceneries of coexistence and spiritual retreats. Maipu recognises as the Department Patron Saint to the Virgin de la Merced whose commemoration is celebrated on 24th of September, the day when it culminates a whole week of public functions and festivities in her honour. The sowing is consecrated to her as well as the harvest is offered to her, central pillars of the economy and the work of maipucinians.
